Karen Rockell is Patient Co-Director of the UK Organ Donation and Transplantation Research Network. She has joint responsibility for the strategic direction of the network and leads the theme on embedding PPIE in research.  Since her liver transplant in 2010 she has been a passionate advocate for patient/public involvement in all stages of health research: Prioritisation and development of research questions, design, development, and implementation of research through to delivery and public dissemination. In particular, her interest is in closing the knowledge gap between patients the public and researchers to improve public trust and research transparency.
