Biography

Professor Masumbuko Y. Mwashambwa is a book author, prolific writer and a teacher in the Department of surgery, School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Dodoma. He is a passionate teacher, mentor and trainer. 

Professor Mwashambwa stands as a beacon of innovation and expertise in the realm of surgical medicine, renowned for pioneering advancements in kidney transplantation, which has significantly shaped the landscape of medical care, particularly at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma and in the country at large. In this capacity, he has served as lead surgeon and Co-chairman to the transplant committee which oversees renal transplantation services. He also performs arteriovenous fistula for hemodialysis access.

In research and literature Professor Mwashambwa has authored a surgical book titled “Homeland introduction to surgical practice”, a book intended to seal a gap of locally produced books addressing local surgical needs, which addresses myriads of subjects, ranging from surgical techniques to insightful analyses of medical practices. Professor Mwashambwa has also published numerous research articles in esteemed peer-reviewed journals.

In The Transplant Society, Prof Mwashambwa is invited to speak on Strengthening Deceased Organ Transplantation Capacity in LMICs; Critical issues Law and regulations in Tanzania, and he will also highlight on kidney transplant in Tanzania.
